This is a very good point, and I do think it is great that someone who is repulsed by homosexuality is defending it.
The thing is, the person also said something along the lines of "as long as they don't flaunt it in front of me" (not an exact quote, but it was something like that).

This is still discriminatory. Obviously, the person would be okay with straight people holding hands and kissing in public, but if they saw a gay couple doing the same, they would be "repulsed".

Most of the rights homosexuals are looking for are social ones! We want to be accepted, be seen equal to straight people! We want to be able to walk down the street holding hands with the ones we love on a bright sunny day and stop and kiss them on the corner. The thing is, that's a scary thing to do for most homosexuals. It's scary for MOST people in the queer community. And this is wrong. We just want it to be normal. We just want people to be exposed to it so it BECOMES normal. We just want to be treated the same as everybody else.

Unfortunately, it's a charictaristic you seem to have forgotten about. Yes, there was a contradiction, and that was also his/her point. Many people think of homosexuality and are disgusted by the image, yet do not have the EMPATHY to realize that others may have a much different perspective than you. The point is that although the thought may be repulsive, other thoughts must be taken into account. For example, if you were to explain heterosexual intercourse to a toddler, they would obviously be disgusted. That is, as many say, the "natural" way, yet the immature mind of a child does not recognize that and merely sees that it is repulsive to themselves alone. Obviously we do not see heterosexual sex as repulsive, but do you think the child sees that? By saying that you are repulsed by homosexuality and that you could never possibly defend it, you are revealing that you have a very immature and childlike world view. One point of view, yours, is not the only one that exists. You are not the only individual in the world. Children, having a low sense of individualism, cannot realize that there are other viewpoints apart from theirs. This is acceptable, for children. But for you, you who have had so many more years experience, this is extremely narcissistic and narrow minded. Empathy in it's purest sense is learning to see the world from anothers eyes. Learn it.

So before you go spouting your 2000 year old book at me, get all the facts. The bible was written by men, many of who never met jesus. The old testament was a rip off of ancient jewish texts. The bible in it's current form wasn't compiled until nearly 200 years after jesus purportedly lived and the only reason that king Constantine declared christianity the official religion is to avoid a civil war thanks to the vocal and violent christians of the times. (Not much has changed there apparently.) King Constantine was a pagan until his death bed. So, if you're going to live your life according to a book, at least follow it in it's entirety. Don't pick and choose or you'll be just another hypocrite.
